About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct interpretation sessions remotely in a professional manner, adhering to the interpreter’s code of conduct.
- Be prepared to take notes during interpretation sessions.
- Familiarize yourself with industry-specific vocabulary, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.
- Ensure accurate and complete interpretation without adding, omitting, or substituting any information.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interpretation sessions.
- Facilitate effective communication between limited English proficient individuals and clients.
- Participate in internal professional training and pursue additional certifications as needed.
- Maintain communication with and report to your team leader.
- Adhere to dress code requirements for remote interpretation sessions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fluency in English and native proficiency in Portuguese.
- Minimum of 1 year of remote interpretation experience with a reputable company.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology; familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.
- International healthcare-related certifications (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA) are advantageous.
- High school diploma (in your native language).
- High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent communication, active listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
