About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain novel robotic systems
  • Work directly with the client on architectural design of complex systems
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team on challenging problems
  • Deliver solutions balancing performance and reliability
  • Learn and work across networking, security, navigation, obstacle detection, motor control, and safety-related sensors
  • Execute under technical direction while working independently on assignments
  • Leverage AI tooling to streamline development and unit testing
  • Develop diagnostics, test code, and utilities supporting safety certification
  • Support documentation and field testing activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing production-level embedded software in C++ and/or Rust for safety-critical systems
  • Understanding of real-time concepts, thread synchronization, memory management, and performance tuning on Linux
  • Proficiency with Linux, including device drivers, multicore systems, and real-time Linux
  • Proficiency with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Experience with modern SDLC processes, including unit testing, static analysis, and CI/CD
  • Knowledge of microcontroller programming and hardware interfaces
  • Understanding of memory constraints and optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with Git, SVN, or other industry-standard source control
  • Experience using Agile techniques, including task/issue management
  • Experience with industrial safety standards, particularly IEC 61508, and functional-safety software design
  • Hands-on RTOS experience, particularly FreeRTOS
  • Knowledge of EtherCAT, SPI, and RS485
  • Experience with networking, 802.11/Wi-Fi, and data security
  • Experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code
  • Robotics systems experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-disciplined, independent, and results-oriented
