About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide outsourced accounting services to public and private companies, including REITs, mortgage finance companies, real estate private equity funds, developers, and operators
- Interact directly with clients, including management and supervisors
- Develop and maintain financial reporting support work papers
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain and update client general ledgers and adjusted trial balances
- Perform month-end and/or quarter-end close activities, including workbook updates and financial statement variance analysis
- Review clients’ books and records and prepare bank and other account reconciliations
- Determine account accuracy and propose/post adjusting journal entries under US GAAP and income tax basis
- Assist with financial statements, footnotes, management reports, Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, and quarterly earnings releases
- Assist in preparing Partner Capital Statements and notices
- Validate financial information maintained by third-party service providers
- Perform basic US GAAP research
- Assist with ad hoc and special accounting projects, including accounting software implementation, IPO projects, transaction or business process reviews, forensic investigations, and financial reporting and asset management reporting assistance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
- 3+ years of relevant accounting and financial reporting work experience
- Understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in month-end, quarter-end, and annual closings for US GAAP financial statements
- Experience preparing related working papers or analyses
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Word
- Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas
- Ability to take responsibility for project aspects and suggest improvements
- Flexible and adaptable work style with ability to prioritize tasks, work independently or in a team, and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of SEC reporting
- Knowledge of income tax basis financial statements
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Yardi
- Minimum requisite education toward CPA certification is preferred
