About the role

  • Contribute to research in robotics and explainable AI through the development and implementation, practical application, theoretical analysis, and evaluation of AI algorithms
  • Implement deep learning and generative models
  • Improve models, for example with respect to efficiency, training performance, or inference behavior

Requirements

  • Enrolled full-time Bachelor's or Master's student in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with good to very good grades
  • Programming experience, particularly strong proficiency in Python
  • Experience with machine learning, especially neural networks and their implementation (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar)
  • Motivation and initiative
  • Residence in Berlin or surrounding area, as the position must be carried out on-site in Berlin for optimal collaboration with colleagues
  • Interest in robotics and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), e.g., Robot Learning including Reinforcement Learning, Behavior Cloning, Sim2Real
  • Mathematical optimization, differential equations, generative/flow models, and constraint solvers
  • Fundamental research and method development in local feature attribution, global and mechanistic interpretability
  • XAI-based model improvements, evaluation of AI models, and physics-informed neural networks (PINNs)
  • Applications across a wide range of machine learning models, architectures, inference objectives, and data modalities
