About the role
- You will carry out research and development projects in the areas of CFD optimization and design automation
- You will take on project leadership of the EU project "exFan" to optimize heat exchangers in aircraft engines for the aviation of the future (Zero Emission Aviation)
- Acquiring, executing and managing additional publicly funded research and development projects as well as industry projects is also part of your responsibilities
- You will actively help shape future research topics and projects in the context of sustainable propulsion technologies and develop creative solution approaches that you will implement together with an interdisciplinary team
- You will present and document your results in scientific publications and at international specialist conferences
- In addition, you will supervise Bachelor's and Master's theses in the field of fluid-dynamics simulation and optimization
Requirements
- Completed scientific university degree (Master's or university diploma) in a STEM field, ideally Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computational Engineering
- Solid experience in numerical flow simulation (CFD) and confident handling of Ansys (Fluent/CFX)
- Confident use of a modern programming language, preferably Python, to automate simulation workflows
- Knowledge of parametric component design and an understanding of additive manufacturing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in very good German and English (language level C)
