About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, recruit, and instruct students facing challenges with academic promotion, graduation, and school-to-career transition
- Ensure interactions, processes, and materials align with the Transition to Success philosophy and practices
- Implement the JAG curriculum and help students acquire specific competencies
- Use lectures, hands-on activities, and team teaching to address students’ needs
- Develop and implement individual intervention strategies
- Recruit students and secure referrals from school personnel, the Advisory Committee, and parents
- Interview candidates and referring parties to assess eligibility using JAG guidelines
- Administer assessments and career interest surveys
- Create and implement individualized career development plans
- Build relationships with teachers, administrators, and the Advisory Committee
- Promote the JAG program in schools and the broader community
- Attend and speak at community events
- Work with employers, parents, civic groups, and legislators to build program awareness and support
- Develop job opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, and job shadows
- Organize and advise the JAG Career Association
- Provide guidance, counseling, and support, referring students to additional services as needed
- Follow school policies regarding discipline, attendance, and mandated reporting
- Maintain accurate student, employer, community-contact, and classroom documentation in JAGForce and student hard files
- Securely maintain student files
- Help students secure and maintain employment or post-secondary education
- Provide follow-up support for 12 months after graduation
- Develop contact plans for non-graduates transitioning to employment or further education
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance
- Travel to local and out-of-state meetings, events, and trainings
- Participate in staff, regional, and statewide meetings and professional development
- Participate in school activities such as lunch duty and field trips
- Complete assigned special projects
- Supervise staff throughout the state, including direct supervision of Refugee Support Services Case Managers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and experience working with high school students
- A valid Wisconsin Teaching License may be required depending on the location of the position
- Ability to engage with school staff, students, employers, and community members
- Ability to foster cooperation, sharing, and respect
- Ability to establish supportive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences to educate and advocate for the JAG program
- Ability to develop curriculum and educational opportunities aligned with the JAG model
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with school and organizational policies
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database management applications
- Advanced Microsoft Office 365 knowledge
- Ability to learn program-specific software and other technological tools
- Typing speed of 30 WPM with at least 95% accuracy
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups, clients, customers, and the public
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and make recommendations
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions
