About the role

  • Oversee and direct tax audit and dispute resolution processes, including managing tax assessments, strategizing negotiations with tax authorities, and implementing effective solutions to resolve controversies efficiently.
  • Represent clients in discussions and negotiations with the Thai Revenue Department, ensuring clear communication and favorable outcomes.
  • Prepare and review responses to tax queries, supporting documents, appeal letters, and other necessary filings related to tax audits and disputes.
  • Advise clients on tax audit risks, compliance strategies, and dispute resolutions, ensuring alignment with Thai tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct in-depth research on evolving tax regulations and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize tax positions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (legal, finance, and accounting) to ensure a well-rounded approach to tax dispute resolution.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on tax audit procedures, negotiation strategies, and document preparation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, clients, and other key stakeholders to facilitate smooth resolution of tax disputes.
  • Contribute to various tax advisory projects, including: M&A tax due diligence and structuring; Business combinations and reorganizations; Tax planning for both corporate and individual clients; Tax advisory on domestic and cross-border transactions; Tax health checks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, or Economics
  • At least 5 years of experience in the tax department of an international accounting or law firm, or equivalent experience in the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the Thai Revenue Code, double tax treaties, tax rulings, and guidelines issued by the Thai Revenue Department.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex tax issues and develop strategic solutions.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience in handling discussions with tax authorities.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify risks and propose effective resolutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team of professionals.
  • Effective people management and leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff.
