About the role

  • Lead a data team of four on a short-term, high-profile CMS project
  • Serve as final authority on data accuracy and integrity for delivered outputs
  • Replace manual processes with automated data solutions serving millions
  • Design, write, and optimize complex queries against large-scale government medical datasets like T-MSIS
  • Translate complex business requirements into testable data logic bridging policy and technology
  • Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement an automated pipeline in a cloud-based data lakehouse
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to data scientists
  • Make final decisions on correctness of data and logic before delivery to state partners

Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must perform all work physically within the United States
  • Able to pass a government-performed public trust background check
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring data science or analytics teams
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL
  • Strong programming background in Python for data analysis and automation
  • Deep understanding of data quality best practices and experience building frameworks for data integrity (PHI experience preferred)
  • Experience architecting data solutions in a modern cloud environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to explain technical subjects to non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Medicaid/CMS or state Medicaid data strongly preferred
