About the role
- Design and implement an activity program adapted to residents
- Organize and facilitate personalized activities within a group setting
- Participate in residents' social and cultural life
- Create displays and decorations according to scheduled events
- Contribute, together with case managers, to the co-construction of residents' individualized plans
- Provide case managers with any information likely to contribute to the supported person's individualized plan
- Conduct individual assessments of communication abilities
- Identify each supported person's specific AAC needs
- Analyze the person's communication environment (family, facility)
- Produce detailed reports of skills and needs in the specialized case management software
- Participate in the evaluation and adaptation of the multi-year AAC implementation strategy and its action plan
- Participate in the implementation of individualized AAC solutions
- Gradually integrate communication objectives and empowerment goals into individualized plans
- Select and adapt appropriate AAC tools (communication boards, software, text-to-speech)
- Personalize communication supports according to individual needs
- Implement communication systems adapted to each situation
- Provide one-to-one support to people learning AAC tools
- Support professionals in adopting the resident's AAC tools
- Regularly evaluate the action plan and adjust interventions
- Monitor new AAC technologies and maintain technological awareness
- Attend team meetings and contribute to summaries
- Collaborate with other professionals (speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, etc.)
- Liaise with external partners (schools, medico-social organizations)
- Contribute to the development of individualized plans and the institution's project
Requirements
- State-recognized diploma required – DE (Diplôme d'État) Specialized Educator
- Proficiency with computer tools
- Experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Experience supporting people with disabilities desired
