About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide professional Creole-English interpretation services remotely via VRI and telephone
- Facilitate communication in medical, legal, educational, government, and social services settings
- Interpret spoken communication from Creole into English and English into Creole in real time
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with professional ethics, standards, and privacy guidelines
- Demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, accuracy, and impartiality during interpretation sessions
- Accept and complete remote interpretation assignments as scheduled
- Stay informed about developments in Creole language and terminology relevant to interpretation
- Work independently and manage assignments effectively in a remote environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fluency in Creole and English
- Must be based in the United States
- Certification or qualifications in interpretation preferred, not required
- Knowledge of legal interpreting procedures
- Experience interpreting for legal proceedings, case hearings, conferences, or similar settings
- Prior VRI and/or telephone interpretation experience preferred
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Understanding of cultural nuances and ability to provide culturally sensitive interpretation
- Ability to interpret accurately and efficiently in real time
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Reliable internet connection and appropriate equipment for remote interpretation
