Key responsibilities & impact

Provide professional Pashto-English interpretation remotely via Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) and telephone
Facilitate communication in medical, legal, educational, government, and social services settings
Interpret spoken communication between Pashto and English in real time
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and interpretation standards
Demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, cultural sensitivity, accuracy, and attention to detail
Interpret legal proceedings, hearings, conferences, and other formal settings as assigned
Stay informed about relevant Pashto terminology and language developments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Fluency in Pashto and English
Must be based in the United States
Certification, training, or qualifications in interpretation preferred, not required
Knowledge of legal terminology and interpreting procedures
Experience interpreting court hearings, legal proceedings, conferences, or similar settings
Prior VRI and/or telephone interpretation experience preferred
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to interpret accurately and efficiently in real time
Understanding of cultural nuances and ability to provide culturally sensitive interpretation
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Reliable high-speed internet connection and appropriate equipment for VRI services
