About the role
- Ownership of technical features: Over time, take ownership of specific features and ensure they meet the highest quality standards.
- Console development: Support PS5 and Xbox Series X/S development, ensuring robust performance and TRC/XR compliance.
- Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with design, art, and production to estimate tasks, define technical scope, and maintain alignment across disciplines.
- Team management: Lead and manage other developers, mentor junior team members, and support the hiring process to help build a high-performing team.
- Maintain standards: Promote a robust, reusable code mindset within the team and ensure maintainable, scalable solutions throughout the development process.
- Conceptual contribution: Propose new concepts and ideas informed by a strong understanding of current trends.
- Planning and coordination: Coordinate with other leads on planning and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of team capabilities and alignment with project goals.
- Estimation and technical breakdown: Help with effort estimations and break down complex technical topics.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working on Unity projects.
- Strong understanding of core engine features and workflows (prefab setup, asset importers, terrain, colliders, common engine concepts).
- Solid knowledge of standard Unity packages and systems: UGUI, profiling tools, Animations and Animator, Cinemachine (+ Timeline), Addressables, UI Toolkit.
- Proficient C# skills.
- Comfortable using Rider or Visual Studio for writing, formatting, and debugging code.
- Experience with multiplayer code and networking systems.
- Ability to write clean, readable code and clear commit messages.
- Console development experience (Xbox/PlayStation): understanding of TRC/XR compliance, build specifications, and the certification process.
- Previous experience managing and/or mentoring remote teams with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of the game development lifecycle, including pre-production, effort estimation, best practices, and release pipeline management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interest in the FPS genre and awareness of current trends.
- Strong communication skills for clear, effective, collaborative interaction across cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience with SVN or other version control systems.
- Available for 36 hours per week.
- Previous fully remote work experience.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset.
- Located in Europe (within 2 hours time difference from Amsterdam).
