About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform hand lamination of composite materials for laboratory specimen preparation, including cutting, kitting, bagging, and curing to precise tolerances
  • Assist engineers in the test/fixture design, material development, and testing of metallic and non-metallic specimens/components
  • Conduct hands-on mechanical and analytical testing for both metallic and non-metallic materials
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of the testing and analytical equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
  • Collaborate with engineers to analyze test data, identify issues, and propose solutions to improve the testing process
  • Support prototype and fixture fabrication, including design, CAD, minor machining and fabrication
  • Follow established procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Document procedures, test results, and equipment specifications to maintain accurate records and facilitate knowledge transfer
  • Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for projects, including sourcing, ordering, and inventory management
  • Provide training and guidance to technicians and interns to foster skill development and knowledge sharing
  • Stay informed about advancements in aerospace technology and industry trends to contribute innovative ideas and solutions to ongoing projects
  • Maintain the lab organized and comply with all health and safety rules in the lab

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree or technical certification in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, material engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience working as a technician in the aerospace industry, preferably in a research and development or M&P environment
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and analytical testing equipment
  • Hands-on experience with precision tools and machining equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and data analysis tools is desirable
  • Understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and testing standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, BS) is a plus
