About the role

  • Serve as a key point of contact on state securities regulation between FINRA and financial services regulators
  • Monitor, analyze, and track individual state initiatives affecting FINRA or regulated broker-dealers and capital markets
  • Conduct periodic reporting on state-related issues for senior leaders and make recommendations
  • Independently prepare comment letters and testimony on state legislative proposals
  • Recommend and oversee external state lobbying consultants
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and advise FINRA Executives

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in government relations, securities law, or regulation field
  • Strong working knowledge of securities regulation
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of state legislative and government processes preferred
  • Excellent judgment, analytical, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze and summarize securities laws and position papers
  • Ability to manage relationships with diverse constituents
  • Ability to operate in complex operational, technical, policy, and legal environment
