About the role
- Serve as a key point of contact on state securities regulation between FINRA and financial services regulators
- Monitor, analyze, and track individual state initiatives affecting FINRA or regulated broker-dealers and capital markets
- Conduct periodic reporting on state-related issues for senior leaders and make recommendations
- Independently prepare comment letters and testimony on state legislative proposals
- Recommend and oversee external state lobbying consultants
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and advise FINRA Executives
Requirements
- BS/BA degree
- At least 7 years of experience in government relations, securities law, or regulation field
- Strong working knowledge of securities regulation
- Graduate degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of state legislative and government processes preferred
- Excellent judgment, analytical, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze and summarize securities laws and position papers
- Ability to manage relationships with diverse constituents
- Ability to operate in complex operational, technical, policy, and legal environment
