About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate closely with account leads and clients
  • Monitor and pitch media across levels and verticals relevant to education clients
  • Research client issues and develop landscape and policy analysis, media insights, and thought leadership opportunities
  • Draft press releases, advisories, contributed articles, briefing documents, and other written materials
  • Provide monthly client reporting on activities, KPIs, and scopes
  • Maintain project trackers, assemble agendas and action items, and manage budgets and scopes of work
  • Provide general account support, including internal and client calls and other assigned tasks
  • Support creation of new business proposals
  • Support client accounts with increasing responsibility for project management and client engagement
  • Create media reports and analyses
  • Develop and pitch story ideas securing local, trade, national, broadcast, podcast, and print/digital coverage
  • Manage or oversee social media content development, community engagement, and campaign management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3–5 years of experience within an agency, nonprofit, public policy, or education-related field
  • Experience supporting strategic communications, media relations, social media, marketing, or advocacy efforts
  • Candidates located within the U.S. Eastern or Central time zones
  • Direct education communications experience and interest preferred
  • Strong interest and basic understanding of the U.S. education system and global education issues and trends
  • Strong writing and editing skills across platforms, voices, and tones
  • Proficiency with AP style and social media writing
  • Strong accountability, deadline-driven and detail-oriented
  • Ability to self-manage projects and tasks, especially in remote environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Knowledge of ethical use of AI tools including Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and NotebookLLM
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms including LinkedIn, X or Blue Sky, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Substack
  • Keen interest in public relations, journalism, public affairs, communications, or marketing
  • Prior experience with Slack, Zoom, Meltwater, Muck Rack, Canva, and other programs is a plus
