About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Teach Electrical Worker courses at varied times
Submit required reports and forms to the Administrative Office
Assist in developing and implementing course syllabi
Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
Evaluate students' progress toward course objectives and communicate progress promptly
Maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues
Improve instructional quality through innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
Attend required meetings, trainings, and orientations
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years of documented Electrician's experience at the journeyman level, including at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory role, with verification of responsibilities, OR minimum 3 years of experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program
Electrical Worker Journeyman credential or equivalent
NCCER Instructor certification, or willingness to complete the NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) and obtain appropriate CORE and Electrical Craft certifications from NCCER
Willingness to complete Green Apple Labs certification to teach Green Apple electrical labs
Knowledge of all aspects of the Electrical Worker trade
Mastery of NCCER electrical course content
Project leadership skills and a collaborative, facilitative style
Effective strategies to engage students in learning
Excellent oral, written, communication, and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with MS Office software
Strong computer skills
Knowledge of power and hand tools related to the craft or trade
Ability to demonstrate safe use of power and hand tools
Ability to work with detailed spoken instructions, close visual acuity, computer terminals, data and figures, transcription, and extensive reading
Availability to meet scheduled classes and students outside class instruction
Ability to work in a skilled trades laboratory, including exposure to high noise and weather-related conditions
