About the role
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of existing structures
- Attend meetings with clients, jurisdictional agencies, other professionals and organizations
- Develop engineering solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule and project constraints
- Manage, administer and design structural engineering projects and structural components of non-structural projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
- Mentor aspiring engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, Master of Engineering preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Licensed Structural Engineer preferred
- 4+ years within a consulting environment firm
- 5+ years leading structural engineering projects
- Familiarity with design and analysis using various materials including but not limited to metals such as steel and aluminum; concrete and precast concrete; prestressed and post-tensioned concrete; CMU; wood and mass timber
- Strong leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Well versed in regulatory and permitting requirements
- Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate with others to explore alternative solutions
- Comfortable performing in an environment that requires independent evaluation, judgment and decision making
- Working knowledge of structural modeling software, including or similar to RISA suite of software: 2D; 3D; Foundation; Floor, Enercalc, ADAPT, ETABS
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills including the ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, complex reports and to orally communicate technical information to others.
