About the role

  • Apply & continue to develop a breadth of engineering skills, in the discipline of Marine Engineering
  • Ability to produce engineering requirements including; design changes, modifications, defect investigations, obsolescence and alterations/additions
  • Apply deep technical understanding of Power & Propulsion and Auxilliary Systems within a Marine Environment
  • Investigating and solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed designs
  • Develop and maintain technical procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards
  • Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss and deliver engineering solutions to complex problems

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, Naval Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain
  • Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET)
  • Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or actively working towards achieving accredited status)
  • Strong understanding of Requirements capture and management
  • Strong understanding of through-life support
  • Strong understanding of scope of work development
  • Strong understanding of obsolescence management
  • Strong understanding Technical Documentation and Standards including; DEFSTANS, STANAGS, BRs etc
  • Strong understanding of the MOD procurement process and common support model
  • A clear understanding of the role of a Marine Engineer throughout all stages of the design lifecycle (CADMID)
  • An understanding of classification society rules, regulations and standards in the design, construction and in-service lifecycle phases
  • Experience of whole ship design including assessment of performance, design integration, construction, and through-life maintenance
  • Experience of working in multi-company and engineering discipline teams with an ability to communicate effectively
  • Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading and/or supporting multiple engineering projects & customers
  • Experience in Stakeholder Engagement and Management
