About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the technical owner for the finishing components and subsystems assigned to you.
  • Understand and document tolerance requirements needed to achieve repeatable installation in production.
  • Prepare, format, and communicate technical requirements to suppliers (technical specifications).
  • Lead technical meetings with designers and manufacturing engineering.
  • Define validation plans, conduct verifications and tests to validate designs.
  • Approve changes and new designs for systems.
  • Coach design teams responsible for integrating systems into the vehicle.
  • Serve as the internal reference for the state of the technology in this domain.
  • Monitor technological developments and identify opportunities.
  • Contribute to defining the technical content of projects (technical requirements, validation, risks).
  • Guide and support development and production teams.
  • Plan the work of your staff and/or external teams while respecting deadlines.
  • Assess risks associated with development and define alternatives to achieve the project’s expected results.
  • Participate in the technical analysis of in-service failures and ensure the definition and implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Act as the technical representative and custodian of the systems under your responsibility with customers and suppliers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Relevant product development experience
  • Experience with composite materials, glazing, plastics and metals
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), DFM/DFA principles, and FMEA analyses
  • Aptitude and interest in technical writing: technical specifications, test plans, and technical reports
  • Excellent verbal and written proficiency in French and English.
