About the role

  • As a Design & Integration engineer, you will perform trade-off studies, develop technical solutions, present them at various design reviews, and revise and approve engineering documentation (2D, 3D and reports).
  • Perform trade-off studies on door hardware/infrastructure types, document investigations, produce reports, and develop concepts and 3D models for mechanisms, structures and system installations.
  • Produce engineering cost-impact assessments for designs, collect engineering function costs and facilitate consolidation of cost impacts across project stakeholders.
  • Manage change projects for which your team is the lead integrator.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Authority (DAD) to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Communicate and arbitrate between MFT functions such as stress analysis, systems, manufacturing, structural suppliers, the program office, logistics and quality to develop new designs and resolve issues.
  • Manage your priorities, ensure adherence to change management plans and implement recovery plans to meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to reducing non-conformities, conducting root cause analysis and improving efficiency within your area and across the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a college-level technical diploma in engineering, aerospace or equivalent, with relevant experience in aircraft door design and manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation product regulations, notably CAR 525.783.
  • Action-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, sound judgement, flexibility and initiative; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of commitment, ability to meet tight deadlines and a sense of urgency.
  • Solid knowledge of aircraft doors and structural design, compliance, detailed design (sheet metal, machined parts, mechanisms and component assemblies), systems installation, configuration management principles, design for manufacturability, weight control, cost and schedule management.
  • Proficiency in CATIA and Google Workspace.
  • Advanced English (spoken and written) and an understanding of French.
