About the role
- Provide PCB design services to client in Stevenage for high-reliability defence products
- Create new components and add to client library; perform component placement and routing while trading off conflicting requirements
- Implement EMI/thermal management strategies and ensure manufacturability, yield and testability
- Adhere to client-specific design rules and PCB manufacturer capabilities to ensure high yield
- Work with mechanical designers to ensure electronics and mechanical parts integrate and are manufacturable
- Hybrid role with attendance at the client site in Stevenage
Requirements
- Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (HNC/HND acceptable with significant demonstrable experience in lieu)
- Extensive experience in PCB design delivering complex high-reliability electronics
- Proficiency using Zuken CR-8000 is essential
- Familiarity with high ball count BGA component packages
- Experience delivering electronics for hostile environments (aerospace, military, marine, rail)
- Understand trace width/spacing, DFM/DFA, DFT, component orientation, decoupling capacitor placement, analogue/digital segregation, EMI/EMC strategies, thermal management, controlled impedance, and layer stack design
- Ability and willingness to travel to and work on the client site at Stevenage 3 days per week
- UK sole National SC Cleared required
