About the role
- Review professional claims to verify HCPCS coding accuracy and appropriate reimbursement for Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
- Apply industry knowledge and EXL’s proprietary tools to identify overpayments and audit trends.
- Write clear, professional audit rationales based on AMA guidelines.
- Navigate various client systems to reprice and process complex claims.
- Interpret provider contracts and fee schedules to determine correct payment methods.
- Maintain high standards for quality, productivity, and appeals uphold rate.
- Stay updated on coding guidelines, CMS/OIG policies, and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all federal/state regulations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in claims processing, medical billing, or auditing—with a strong focus on Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
- In-depth knowledge of HCPCS codes and reimbursement policies.
- Proven ability to read and interpret contract language and fee schedules.
- Preferably certified with RHIA, CPC, or similar credentials (multiple credentials are a plus).
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and analytical skills.
- Intermediate Excel and Word skills, with a solid grasp of basic math.
- Bonus if you’ve used: FACETS, NASCO, Encoder Pro, TrueCode, 3M, Webstrat, Pricers.
