About the role
- Partner directly with Product Owner / Platform Owner to break down Epics into clear, well-defined Features and User Stories.
- Facilitate requirement discussions with business stakeholders, operations teams, and client partners; identify gaps, edge cases, and process risks.
- Document detailed functional and non-functional requirements, including workflow nuances, validation rules, UI/UX behavior, and integration needs.
- Review end-to-end business processes and propose improvements that reduce friction, improve data quality, or increase automation.
- Own your User Stories through the full lifecycle: grooming, refinement, dependency identification, clarification for developers, acceptance criteria validation, and functional review in the development environment.
- Validate delivered stories directly in dev—ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with intended workflow before moving to UAT.
- Collaborate closely with developers, QA automation engineers, and architects to clarify requirements and resolve questions quickly to maintain sprint velocity.
- Provide demos to business stakeholders and support a smooth transition from development to production.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, operations teams, the technical pod, and global Scrum teams.
- Communicate requirement changes, risks, and impacts clearly to all parties.
- Manage scope and assist in evaluating change requests for feasibility and timeline impact.
- Escalate risks or blockers to the Platform Owner in a timely manner.
- Conduct data analysis using SQL and other tools to support requirement definition, defect investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with technical leads/architects to understand backend impacts, integration considerations, and system constraints.
- Support troubleshooting post-release defects or operational issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Become a subject matter expert on EXL’s Premium Audit systems, workflows, and user roles (auditors, reviewers, client partners).
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with progressively increasing responsibilities.
- 3+ years working in Agile Scrum environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive clarity in complex problem spaces.
- Strong communication skills—capable of interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders, writing clear documentation, and presenting to business audiences.
- Ability to rapidly learn new technologies, systems, and domain concepts in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and structured problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with SQL for data validation and investigation.
- Excellent time-management and organizational abilities; able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset and a commitment to transparency and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
