About the role
- Develop and implement scalable and secure data architecture strategies aligned with organizational goals and healthcare industry standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, HIPAA, CMS).
- Lead the modernization of healthcare data platforms into a scalable, AI-enabled architectures that support structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. Support LLM-based applications and embed vector database technologies.
- Design and oversee data integration frameworks to support the ingestion, transformation, and dissemination of clinical, operational, and financial data from various sources (EHRs, claims, labs, devices, etc.).
- Architect cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) to support real-time analytics, AI/ML, and scalable storage.
- Ensure data models and architecture adhere to governance, privacy, and security regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including data engineers, data scientists, clinicians, and IT teams, to translate business requirements into data solutions and roadmap.
- Define and maintain a metadata management framework and ensure data lineage and data cataloging practices are followed.
- Continuously monitor and optimize data architecture for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering, with at least 3 years in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with unstructured data processing (e.g. clinical documents, medical records).
- Deep knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, and SNOMED.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, Palantir), including integrated pipelines, lakes, and AI/ML workflows for healthcare, with orchestration, deployment and real-time processing.
- Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, Erwin) and ETL frameworks (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory).
- Familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Experience with population health, value-based care, or health information exchange (HIE).
- Experience with Generative AI tools and frameworks (e.g., Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, Vertex AI, LangChain) and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, ChromaDB).
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in healthcare analytics.
- Certifications: TOGAF, AWS/Azure Data Architect, Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA).
