About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform detailed quality audits of coded medical records for accuracy, compliance, official coding guidelines, and payer-specific requirements
- Review and analyze clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy in assigning CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes
- Identify coding errors, trends, and improvement areas; provide actionable feedback and recommendations
- Collaborate with coding managers and training teams on process improvement and coding education
- Stay current with coding standards, payer regulations, and compliance requirements
- Handle and guide the team to achieve production and quality goals
- Manage inventory and planning
- Handle team clarifications and issues; research grey areas and develop solutions
- Conduct team education and training
- Escalate issues and identify trends
- Ensure team compliance with HIPAA and OIG requirements
- Follow project protocols and instructions and respond promptly to manager emails
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Science or Nursing
- One or more mandatory certifications: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder), or CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- 3+ years of experience after certification
- 4–6 years of coding with quality experience
- Experience with IVR coding, including complex-level IVR coding, cardiovascular surgery, and general surgery
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a Quality Analyst or Quality Auditing role
- QC experience
- Microsoft Excel proficiency, including trackers, analysis, and reporting
- Experience working in SLA-driven, high-compliance healthcare environments
- Chennai location
- CPMA certification is an advantage
- Team handling, problem-solving, analytical, training, and team-motivation skills
- Ability to address client emails and queries
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OIG compliance
