About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform in-depth reviews of select inpatient medical records
Ensure assigned codes and DRG are supported by clinical documentation
Ensure diagnoses and procedures are coded with the required specificity
Verify discharge disposition and POA accuracy
Mentor and train other coders
Provide ongoing feedback and education to coding staff and Clinical Documentation Specialists
Follow every aspect of SOP
Complete received audits with quality
Achieve quality and production targets
Follow project-related protocols and instructions
Escalate issues and identify trends
Update productivity, clarification, and other applicable logs daily
Check with Manager/TL for clarifications
Respond promptly to all manager emails
Ensure team compliance with HIPAA and OIG requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's in nursing (preferable) / Bachelor's in science
Mandatory CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) certification
Minimum 2 years’ experience in IP DRG coding or auditing
Auditing experience on IP DRG
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Exposure to 3M software and NLP tool
Good Excel skills
Flexibility
Good communication
Knowledge of IPPS methodology
