About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform in-depth reviews of select inpatient medical records
  • Ensure assigned codes and DRG are supported by clinical documentation
  • Ensure diagnoses and procedures are coded with the required specificity
  • Verify discharge disposition and POA accuracy
  • Mentor and train other coders
  • Provide ongoing feedback and education to coding staff and Clinical Documentation Specialists
  • Follow every aspect of SOP
  • Complete received audits with quality
  • Achieve quality and production targets
  • Follow project-related protocols and instructions
  • Escalate issues and identify trends
  • Update productivity, clarification, and other applicable logs daily
  • Check with Manager/TL for clarifications
  • Respond promptly to all manager emails
  • Ensure team compliance with HIPAA and OIG requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's in nursing (preferable) / Bachelor's in science
  • Mandatory CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) certification
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in IP DRG coding or auditing
  • Auditing experience on IP DRG
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Exposure to 3M software and NLP tool
  • Good Excel skills
  • Flexibility
  • Good communication
  • Knowledge of IPPS methodology
