About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the Data Migration Lead / Enterprise Data Architect role.
Identify needs and translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
Interpret and translate legacy mainframe data structures into modern target models.
Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Map policy data, contracts, coverages, and benefits relationships and dependencies.
Build data inventories and document end-to-end data lineage.
Determine data ownership and classification, including PII, financial, and actuarial data.
Define migration strategies, including big bang, phased, and dual-run approaches.
Design and justify ETL/ELT pipelines.
Specify and validate migration rules and transformation logic.
Design rollback and fallback scenarios.
Define and measure data quality rules and data cleansing strategies.
Establish governance frameworks for ownership, stewardship, and decision-making.
Document field-level source-to-target mappings and define reconciliation strategies.
Align tolerances and acceptance criteria with the business.
Coordinate with data management groups, technical teams, business stakeholders, SteerCo, and the calculation engine.
Coordinate dual-run validation by comparing mainframe and new-platform results.
Define data scope and dependencies for policy administration, claims, and customer onboarding tracks.
Align migration sequencing with tiering.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduate in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Strong mainframe modernization knowledge.
Insurance domain knowledge.
Knowledge of VSAM, DB2 on z/OS, IMS/DL1, and COBOL copybooks.
Understanding of relational or event-driven target models.
Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, migration rules, and transformation logic.
Understanding of EBCDIC, packed decimal, COMP-3, and fixed-length records.
Experience with Kafka for event streaming and cloud data platforms.
Mastery of SQL and data analysis tools.
Knowledge of data quality, governance, lineage, ownership, stewardship, and classification.
Stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
Ability to translate data migration risks into business impact.
Ability to maintain RACI documentation.
Leadership qualities including innovation, critical thinking, optimism/positivity, communication, time management, collaboration, problem-solving, independent action, knowledge sharing, and approachability.
