About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design and documentation of protection and controls systems for high-voltage substations.
  • Develop and review project deliverables, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, client standards, and utility requirements.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and studies teams to deliver integrated substation solutions.
  • Participate in client meetings to present technical designs and support project discussions.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and consistency across projects.
  • Drive department efficiency and quality through process improvement and tool development.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed successfully.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Extensive experience in substation protection and controls design for transmission and distribution systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and related design software; familiarity with relay setting tools a plus
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NESC, IEEE, and utility standards
  • Experience developing protection schemes, relay logic, and communication systems for substations
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional engineering teams
  • Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
