Key responsibilities & impact

Manage accounts receivable and collections processes to ensure timely and accurate invoicing and cash application
Manage accounts payable and vendor payment workflows, maintaining strong vendor relationships and payment accuracy
Process payroll and perform related reconciliations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
Calculate and administer sales commissions in coordination with Sales and Finance teams
Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations to maintain real-time visibility into cash positioning
Lead the monthly accrual-based financial close process, ensuring deadlines and accuracy standards are met
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting schedules
Assist with financial reporting and month-end variance analysis for internal stakeholders
Support annual audit and tax preparation processes in collaboration with external advisors
Identify and help implement improvements to accounting workflows, internal controls, and documentation
Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Leadership teams to support strategic financial decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to full-cycle accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger management
Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and financial close processes. Experience with Gusto for payroll processing is a plus.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
CPA or CPA candidate is a plus, but not required
Must be located within commuting distance of Chicago, IL for hybrid work arrangement
