About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage a team of Diagnostic Specialists across the U.S.
- Establish diagnostic expertise aligned with global diagnostic strategy
- Manage and facilitate education on genetic testing and sponsored testing programs
- Train and provide leadership for Diagnostic Specialist educational initiatives
- Support compensation structures and team goal achievement
- Partner compliantly with cross-functional teams
- Assist with reporting requirements and business needs
- Contribute to U.S. diagnostic strategy development and implementation
- Identify Genetic Testing Key Opinion Leaders and their educational needs
- Provide diagnostic field training and oversight and assist with material creation
- Attend conferences related to diagnostic programs and testing
- Participate in compliant advocacy, outreach, and engagement with local organizations
- Deliver educational programs and insights to inform strategy
- Educate healthcare providers and partner laboratories on sponsored testing utilization
- Provide expertise on IRD gene panels and testing best practices
- Oversee the department, set objectives and performance standards, conduct appraisals, and administer personnel actions
- Travel extensively by car, plane, and train
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA/BS required
- Healthcare degree strongly preferred, including MS, RN, PA, PharmD, or PhD
- Minimum 10+ years of pharma/biotech experience in sales, clinical/medical, or diagnostics
- Proven success working in high-performing, diverse teams
- Experience collaborating with KOLs, laboratories, and internal/external stakeholders
- Prior rare or ultra-rare disease experience with strong patient focus preferred
- Strong history of leading teams to meet and exceed goals
- Diagnostic and scientific acumen
- Strategic thinking and operational capability
- Ability to succeed in matrixed environments
- Persistence, resilience, and achievement orientation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Cross-functional capability and strong ethical standards
- Ophthalmology genetics knowledge strongly preferred
- Ability to work comfortably with modern electronic hardware and AI tools including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Grok
- Capable of extensive travel and long-distance travel by car, plane, and train
- Candidates should live in close proximity to a large airport hub
