About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and deliver EHS compliance and management system projects
- Execute EHS due diligence for transactions, identifying material risks, liabilities, and compliance gaps
- Advise clients on EHS strategy, post-close integration, compliance alignment, and risk mitigation
- Build client relationships, generate repeat business, and support regional growth
- Support proposals, client discussions, and M&A business development
- Translate EHS findings into decision-ready insights, including risk prioritization and cost implications
- Support deal execution with timely, high-quality deliverables
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to evaluate specialized risks such as air, waste, and PFAS
- Mentor and develop talent and foster a collaborative team environment
- Lead EHS compliance audits, assessments, and corrective actions
- Manage complex, multi-site due diligence projects under ASTM Phase I standards and global protocols
- Oversee projects end-to-end within scope, schedule, and budget
- Develop EHS management systems and regulatory compliance programs
- Provide on-site technical support at client facilities
- Prepare reports evaluating environmental liabilities, compliance status, and operational risks
- Collaborate across ERM’s global network to share best practices and deliver solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in EHS compliance, management systems, sustainability programs, and/or transaction advisory
- Working knowledge of ASTM Phase I ESA standards and core business/legal transaction concepts
- Demonstrated interest in M&A work
- Strong technical expertise in environmental and/or safety disciplines, such as air quality, stormwater, SPCC, and hazardous waste
- Proven project management skills, including budgets, timelines, and technical outcomes
- Leadership ability, including leading initiatives, delegating work, and mentoring junior staff
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical reports and client deliverables
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically
- Preferred: 7+ years of relevant experience, consulting background, advanced degree, professional certifications such as CSP, PE, or CHMM, EHS management systems experience, and business development success
