About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and deliver Environmental Consents Manager and Post-Consent Compliance Manager roles on major infrastructure projects from consent through construction
- Develop and implement consent management and compliance strategies to support project delivery and reduce environmental and regulatory risk
- Establish and maintain consents, commitments, and obligations registers
- Oversee consent compliance processes and ensure project teams fulfil environmental commitments
- Coordinate applications for discharge of requirements, planning conditions, and other consent-related obligations
- Act as primary contact for consent and compliance queries from project teams, clients, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders
- Liaise with the Planning Inspectorate, MMO, Natural England, and other statutory consultees
- Support and lead environmental compliance audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
- Prepare reports on compliance status, emerging risks, and consent-related matters
- Collaborate with engineering, environmental, planning, legal, and construction teams
- Support business development through proposals, client engagement, presentations, and thought leadership
- Mentor and develop junior team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in environmental consent management, post-consent compliance, or environmental project delivery within the UK offshore infrastructure sector
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Geography, Ecology, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline
- Proven experience supporting or leading discharge of consent requirements, planning conditions, and environmental commitments on major offshore infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of UK marine planning and consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders, Electricity Act Section 36 Consents, and associated environmental permitting and licensing requirements
- Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment, environmental legislation, and practical implementation of mitigation and monitoring commitments during construction
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with clients, regulators, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong organisational and analytical skills for complex compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Experience preparing compliance reports, consent submissions, and regulatory correspondence
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing environmental compliance during construction phases of major infrastructure projects
- Experience in offshore wind, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, or hydrogen sectors
- Professional membership of IEMA, RTPI, CIWEM, CEnv, or equivalent is desirable
- Line management or mentoring experience is desirable
