About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • You will be working alongside Partners, Senior Consultants, and peers across the Climate, Sustainability and Transactions and Low Carbon Solutions teams to offer Transaction Advisory Services to financial institutions and infrastructure operators.
  • You will work closely with infrastructure funds, private equity firms, investments banks and energy companies to deliver technical due diligence services on buy side, sell side and project financing deals.
  • You will have some experience in the infrastructure and/or energy sectors, ideally with experience supporting transaction due diligence assignments, or with an understanding and interest in this area, that capture technical, commercial, and economic drivers of infrastructure private finance deals.
  • Your focus is on the technical and ESG/EHS-related evaluation of buy-side, sell-side, and project finance transactions, as well as assessment of technical risks, opportunities, and value drivers in the M&A context.
  • Assisting on projects that provide our clients with a technical, operational and business plan evaluation of their proposed investment on infrastructure assets.
  • Assisting on the coordination of typical project deliverables such as Q&A submission, management sessions, client meetings and report delivery.
  • Evaluating technical, operational, commercial, and economic aspects of infrastructure and energy assets (e.g., asset condition, performance, Opex/Capex, management and operating concepts, business plans).
  • Identifying, assessing, and clearly presenting transaction-relevant risks and opportunities (including deal breakers, value creation potential, integration and optimization approaches).
  • Working effectively across technical communities within ERM and subcontractors who are identified as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support project delivery and client interaction.
  • Delivery of proposals, which will include development of our company profile, scopes of work, scheduling and commercial terms.
  • Completing internal development tasks to improve the functionality of the infrastructure Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) service line.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A solid academic background with an engineering bias (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering)
  • Early career (graduate, internship) technical consulting and / or engineering (design or operations) experience within the energy / infrastructure sectors
  • Technical skills, including the ability to read and understand technical documentation, and the ability to identify potential risks and opportunities within technical documentation, during site visits, and technical discussions, relating to points such as asset integrity, operational performance, management systems and business plans
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational skills, self-motivation, self-sufficiency and the ability to work successfully in a fast turnaround team environment
  • Must be able to promote and execute quality work, and ensure high standards are being achieved by yourself and the team
  • Good communication skills, exhibiting report writing proficiency
  • An interest in the intersection between sustainability and infrastructure solutions
  • Excellent written and spoken in the local language (native) and English
  • Previous experience in technical due diligence would be preferred but not essential
  • An interest in economics and finance, and/or experience with Business Plans; Interest in (domestic) travel to perform site visits when required, focus is on continental Europe
  • Early career involvement/experience in the management of client projects
  • Additional language proficiencies
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following industrial sectors: Renewables, Bioenergy, Waste & Circularity, Power, Heat & Water Networks, Fuels & Chemicals, Low Carbon Fleets & Transport, Buildings & Civil Infrastructure, Digital Infrastructure, and/or Maritime
  • Prior experience or education in: EHS regulation or soil and groundwater risk assessment. In order to support on an occasional basis, our EHS Due Diligence team.
