About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • As an Electricity Market Modeller, you will join our Energy Markets modelling team to develop electricity spot projections based on plausible supply-demand scenarios and mimic the bidding behaviour observed across various market participants.
  • You will support renewable energy developers by leveraging our quantitative risk analytics to assess a range of hedging strategies, develop shaped renewable energy products, and optimize renewable energy and storage investments.
  • Your expertise will help drive informed decision-making and strategic planning in the evolving energy market landscape.
  • You will also develop and implement approaches to the management of energy market risks for large commercial and industrial customers.
  • You will work closely on the design and modelling of energy contract and hedging structures and interact with clients to implement long-term risk management strategies tailored to their specific risk appetite and operational capabilities, incorporating the team’s forward-looking view on energy market conditions.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 1 years’ experience in electricity market modelling.
  • Demonstrated quantitative skillset, working with or managing advanced risk analytics.
  • Proven advanced experience with Plexos® as well as MS Excel and Python programming skills.
  • Enthusiasm and genuine interest in energy markets and electricity financial markets.
  • Confident interpersonal skills as you will be liaising with senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate concisely and accurately.
  • Our team is multi-disciplinary. We are open to diverse educational tertiary qualifications: finance, actuarial, commerce, engineering or similar.
