Provide technical support and senior technical advisory to clients (World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, IFC) on sustainable finance projects
Conduct environmental/biodiversity due diligence and monitoring for domestic and international development projects (oil and gas, power generation, transmission, renewable energy, mining, infrastructure)
Prepare environmental/biodiversity sections of national and international environmental and social impact assessments
Support development and implementation of environmental/biodiversity portions of corporate ESG strategies
Perform project delivery activities: report writing, organizing data collection, survey fieldwork, data and literature review, developing recommendations
Work within quality, budget, schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments
Advise project teams on project risks and mitigants to secure financing
Collaborate with ERM’s global and regional Sustainable Finance teams and contribute to thought leadership
Travel internationally to remote locations for fieldwork and manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines
Requirements
Bachelor's in Biology, environmental science, environmental finance, sustainable finance, environmental studies, engineering, or related field
Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
8+ years (15+ years preferred) of consulting experience working on sustainable finance
Experience in multi-stakeholder processes in developing countries or projects focused on sustainable landscapes
Good understanding of international development and/or environmental policy processes
Experience with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Guiding Principles, or World Bank IFC Performance Standards
Desire to develop Sustainable Finance skills and basic subject matter expertise in Sustainable Finance, Environmental aspects, or social aspects
Basic understanding of key emerging environmental and/or social-related issues (international affairs, climate change, natural resources, environmental sustainability)
Basic understanding of key regulatory environments and regulatory agencies in the United States or internationally (focus on Latin America)
Attention to detail and commitment to deliver quality work products
Demonstrated consultant attributes: team player, eagerness to learn, self-starter, service-oriented mentality
Experience with developing thought leadership and contributing to technical development of the team
Comfortable travelling internationally including remote areas for fieldwork
Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and maintain attention to detail
Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus, but not required
