About the role
- Provide on-site observation and oversight of construction activities from an EHS perspective
- Document and report on health and safety performance during construction activities
- Train on-site client staff and subcontractors on EHS program requirements and safety protocols
- Assist in implementing directives issued by the client’s EHS personnel throughout the project
- Monitor compliance with the client’s safety procedures and ensure work follows the approved project-specific safety plan
- Maintain safety-related documentation on-site, including safety training records, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), SDSs, pre-task assessments, and toolbox talk summaries
- Participate in daily pre-shift coordination meetings to discuss planned activities and associated hazards
- Review and comment on General Contractor JHAs, ensuring proper sign-off prior to work commencement
- Conduct daily site inspections focusing on work site safety and orderliness, address deviations, and collaborate with the General Contractor’s Safety Manager to implement corrective actions
- Issue daily site observation reports following each inspection
- Provide incident investigation support/oversight and support the client-required reporting process
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in health and safety or a related field is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in Construction Safety
- 3+ years of experience leading health & safety teams
- Experience with Wind or Renewable Energy projects
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is highly desired
- Ability to climb wind turbines 3-5 times a week
- Global Wind Organization (GWO) certification or can pass GWO basic rescue with potential of advance rescue
- Construction experience with a Crane is a plus
- Construction Experience with Electricity
- Experience with Basic MS Office and incident reporting systems
- Experience with LOTO, Incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis
- Must be able to wear fall protection harness in compliance with current OSHA requirements
- Fit for duty, physical is a requirement
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
- Willingness to travel throughout the state to different project locations
