Utilize biological and water resource technical and critical thinking skills when conducting desktop reviews for environmental clearance work
Perform desktop-based environmental constraints analysis to determine appropriate levels/types of environmental avoidance and minimization measures needed for environmental compliance
Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system, format and quality standards
Commitment to teamwork and ability to follow established processes and protocols while also confident with identifying process improvements to provide benefit to the client
If working in the field, work locations are often remote and requires bio to work independently
Other special status species surveys and monitoring may be required, based on available skills
Process Data in Microsoft Excel
Train and become independently proficient in client’s Work Management Systems
Compliance with ERM’s rigorous safety program
Biologist may also be tasked with conducting desktop constraints analysis using ArcGIS Online.
Desktop constraint reviews require an understanding of digitally available resource layers and ability to learn quickly in a high-paced environment.
Requirements
BA/BS or Master’s degree in a natural science discipline
2+ years of field experience in California habitats, or similar (Southern California experience preferred)
Must be able to obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment)
Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel, MS word, and online data management systems
Excellent time management and follow-through skills
Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health & Safety protocols
High level written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports
Ability to multi-task, maintains flexibility, and works independently with minimal supervision on projects with expedited deadlines
Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality
Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain
Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography)
Must have a strong attention to detail in documentation of work
Must have strong organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision making skills
Possess a valid driver’s license.
