About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute strategies to identify, engage, and educate regional businesses about the value of internships
- Coordinate with VEDP staff and partners to connect with companies developing or expanding internship programs
- Help companies develop high-quality paid internship programs and connect with potential interns
- Advise businesses on internship design and implementation, including writing internship job descriptions and posting opportunities on a technology platform
- Facilitate online training sessions on high-quality internship programs
- Guide businesses through the Innovative Internship Fund matching grant process, including applications, reimbursement requests, progress tracking, and post-grant surveys
- Promote the program to partners, companies, and students through events, presentations, and collaboration
- Build partnerships with higher education, workforce, and industry organizations
- Participate in regional partner meetings, staff meetings, and training sessions
- Enter company engagements, grant applications, and reimbursements in Salesforce for outcome tracking
- Contribute to program improvement, expansion, reporting, and evaluation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business development, marketing, sales, employer relations, project management, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance
- Reliable high-speed home internet
- Ability to work core hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Ability to attend early morning, evening, and/or weekend meetings
- Ability to travel independently throughout the region, to VEDP’s Richmond office, and to in-state conferences
- Reside in or be familiar with the service area preferred
- Familiarity with GO Virginia Regions 1 and 2 assets and community dynamics preferred
- Experience coordinating or supporting internship programs preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency using CRM systems for interaction tracking, pipeline management, data management, and reporting
- Understanding of the high-quality paid internship model, including recruitment and hiring practices
- Strong networking, relationship-building, verbal, written, presentation, organizational, time-management, and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively across internal and external teams
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally
