About the role
- You will be accountable for developing and winning strategic defence business, with responsibilities including: Opportunity Identification. Proactively identify, assess and prioritise business opportunities across the UK Defence sector, focusing on areas aligned with Envitia’s core capabilities and strategic growth objectives
- Upstream Engagement & Influence. Engage early with MOD sponsors, Front Line Commands (FLCs), the National Armaments Directorate (NAD‑G) and prime contractors to influence programme intent, technical architectures and delivery models, shaping opportunities in Envitia’s favour
- Senior Stakeholder & Relationship Management. Leverage existing relationships with Defence sponsors while building trusted relationships with new end users, partners and decision‑makers to generate sustained business opportunities
- Workshare Negotiation & Strategic Positioning. Secure Envitia’s role within strategic delivery teams through effective negotiation of teaming agreements and partner‑led subcontracting arrangements across complex supply chains
- Business Development & Budget Intelligence. Identify and qualify funded, addressable opportunities by developing a deep understanding of MOD budget ownership, investment cycles and commercial decision pathways. Ensure all strategic pursuits are aligned to confirmed or high‑probability funding sources
- Strategic Partner Development. Establish and grow relationships with leading Defence delivery partners, positioning Envitia as a trusted and differentiated SME delivery partner within prime‑led ecosystems
- Value Proposition Development. Develop compelling, customer‑focused propositions that clearly articulate the value of Envitia’s geospatial, data, AI/ML and digital transformation capabilities against major MOD programmes
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration. Work closely with technical, delivery and consulting colleagues to shape win strategies, support pre‑sales activity and ensure a smooth transition from contract award into delivery
- Proposal & Bid Leadership. Lead the development of high‑quality proposals, presentations and supporting materials to successfully secure new business
Requirements
- Experience of selling services (not products) within public sector markets
- Experience of identifying, shaping and wining new business in the UK public sector markets
- Track record of influencing defence customers, e.g. Defence Digital, Army, RAF, DE&S, SF, CSOC
- Knowledge of defence structure following the Defence Reform, understanding of challenges they face and their strategies
- Understanding of defence procurement pathways and commercial constructs and experience of shaping them to favour SMEs
- Experience working within or alongside prime contractors and systems integrators
- Experience of consultative selling approach, taking time to understand our digital transformation challenges and opportunities and sharing innovative solutions
- Experience of contributing to commercial bids to define winning strategy for success
