About the role
- Lead and guide the Infrastructure Platform and SRE teams, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
- Drive delivery by organising team work, clarifying expectations, setting clear goals, and removing roadblocks for mid-to-large scale projects.
- Own, evolve, and take responsibility for our production systems, including their availability, security, and incident management.
- Promote a “you build it, you run it” approach and champion the internal developer platform, focusing on self-service and developer experience.
- Partner with Architects and Lead Engineers to align system architecture with the larger Envato technical ecosystem.
- Focus on sustainable solution-building, thinking in terms of reusable, scalable platforms and products—not just short-term fixes.
- Coach, mentor, and support your direct reports in their work and career development through regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
- Improve delivery processes and roadmaps to constantly increase delivery predictability.
- Manage commercial aspects like forecasting, budgets, and vendor relationships with the Senior Manager/Engineering Director.
Requirements
- You have previous people management, team leadership, and mentoring experience with Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE teams.
- You're a master of excellent communication and stakeholder management, able to build relationships with technical and non-technical teams.
- You thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, ideally with experience using Agile processes.
- You’re highly self-motivated and directed, demonstrating integrity and ethical behaviour in all interactions.
- You have a proven ability to empower and support teams to embrace change and align resources effectively with shifting priorities.
- You can proactively identify and address challenges, making informed decisions while balancing increased output with maintaining quality.
