About the role
- Oversee development of protection and control engineering packages for substation projects.
- Provide expert guidance on relay protection schemes, SCADA, automation, and communication system design.
- Approve and stamp engineering deliverables as needed (one‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay settings, control wiring, I/O lists, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, IEC, and utility‑specific standards.
- Lead technical reviews, QA/QC processes, and design optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, physical engineering teams to ensure integrated design.
- Support project managers with technical input, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee resource planning, workload forecasting, and project staffing.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of P&C engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Establish training programs, technical standards, and best practices.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support career progression.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for key utility and industrial clients.
- Participate in proposal development, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Build long‑term client relationships and identify opportunities for new or expanded services.
- Represent the company in industry forums, technical committees, and conferences.
- Contribute to annual business planning, revenue forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Support development of new service offerings in grid modernization, automation, and digital substations.
- Drive process improvements, design automation, and adoption of emerging technologies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Power emphasis preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in protection & controls engineering.
- Strong understanding of transmission and substation protection schemes, relay logic, and control systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Proficiency with industry tools (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
