About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee daily and monthly accounting operations for assigned clients
  • Ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping and financial reporting
  • Support Assistant Controllers with financial analysis, interpretation, and recommendations
  • Prepare, review, and analyse monthly financial statements and reports
  • Present financial results and performance insights to clients
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor client budgets, forecasts, and KPIs
  • Coordinate sales tax filings and collaborate with external tax specialists on year-end processes
  • Manage third-party reporting obligations to lenders, investors, and regulatory bodies
  • Apply accounting standards, internal controls, and operational policies consistently
  • Perform monthly file reviews to verify accuracy and identify risks and improvement opportunities
  • Lead optimisation and automation of client accounting files
  • Support onboarding of new clients and integrate them into systems and processes
  • Provide technical accounting support, troubleshooting, and guidance
  • Champion implementation and effective use of new technology and application features
  • Liaise between the CFOs, bookkeeping team, and Controller group
  • Mentor, guide, and provide feedback to junior accounting team members
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, templates, and reporting tools
  • Participate in initiatives advancing standardisation, efficiency, and client satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience in cloud bookkeeping, accounting, or controllership roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • CPA designation is a requirement
  • Experience managing multiple clients, month-end close processes, and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/GAAP), financial controls, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical ability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and automation tools, including QuickBooks Online, Dext, and Plooto
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies and train peers to use them efficiently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders
