About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build new features for two production healthcare mobile applications, one for doctors and one for patients
Improve mobile application performance and maintain existing codebases
Work on platform-specific integrations and features requiring native iOS Swift or Android Kotlin code
Progress from smaller tasks to complex work including performance tuning, refactoring, production debugging, and architecture improvements
Use AI coding tools to investigate issues, understand unfamiliar code, implement and review changes, write tests, automate repetitive tasks, and improve workflows
Critically review AI-generated code and take ownership of final implementations
Communicate asynchronously through backlogs, wikis, GitHub, Slack, and other text-based tools
Explain technical thinking clearly, document technical decisions, and collaborate effectively with the team

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 4 years of experience in React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript
Strong experience with React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience working with production mobile applications
Solid understanding of mobile app states, navigation flows, background/foreground transitions, authentication, networking, and state persistence
Familiarity with Apollo, React Query, or similar data libraries
Familiarity with native development using Swift or Kotlin
Experience debugging complex issues across JavaScript and native layers
Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools in a real development workflow
Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code
Strong asynchronous communication and ability to collaborate primarily through text
Ability to work with at least 4 hours of overlap with a core team
Experience with camera functionality, file uploads, native bridging, Twilio, S3, Sentry, healthcare development, AI workflows, agents, skills, prompts, or development automations is a plus
