About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead all high-voltage, protection and controls, SCADA/communications, testing, and commissioning activities for utility-scale solar and energy storage assets.
- Own cost, schedule, scope, quality, and risk during HV build and commissioning phases through energization, interconnection testing, COD, and turnover to Operations.
- Establish work breakdown structures, baseline schedules, cash flow forecasts, procurement milestones, and resource plans.
- Drive schedule reviews, recovery planning, and critical path management with EPC and site leadership.
- Manage commissioning costs and forecasts, including EAC/EVA updates, change orders, contingency, pay applications, and financial reporting.
- Direct contract administration, change management, claims, and schedule/cost impact analyses.
- Coordinate design completeness, permitting, interconnection readiness, and QA/QC adherence.
- Maintain risk registers, quantify impacts, implement mitigations, and escalate strategic risks.
- Drive site safety culture and HSSE compliance.
- Manage relationships with utilities, AHJs, landowners, inspectors, lenders’ engineers, and EPCs.
- Produce executive-ready reports and presentations for leadership and board-level review.
- Mentor project team members and provide technical direction.
- Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate across departments and maintain project timelines and deliverables.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, electrical engineering, business, or related field experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HV construction project management.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience executing utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
- Strong understanding of schedule and cost controls, including critical path analysis, recovery planning, earned value, EAC forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Strong EPC contract administration and negotiation skills.
- Technical fluency in utility-scale HV construction, civil works, MV/HV systems, SCADA, protection/controls, energy storage technology, and commissioning sequences.
- Ability to identify risks, quantify impacts, and implement mitigation actions.
- Ability to coordinate with utilities, AHJs, inspectors, lenders’ engineers, and EPC executives.
- Clear, persuasive verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead highly effective internal and external teams.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized when handling complex problems and competing priorities.
- 25% travel.
