About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform routine and specialized animal care duties, including feeding, medicating, cleaning, restraint, and transportation
Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment
Observe animal behavior and conditions
Collect specimens
Provide technical assistance to research and veterinary personnel
Perform minor repairs and maintain the animal housing facility
Train and supervise new technicians as needed
Drive utility vehicles to transport animals and supplies, ensuring safe operation, daily inspection, and vehicle cleanliness
Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of animal husbandry/care experience OR certification as Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) and two years of animal husbandry/care experience OR four years of animal husbandry/care experience
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Some positions may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record
Some positions may require three years of transportation and routing experience in lieu of animal husbandry/care experience
May be required to work with, take precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents
