About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and assist with installations, activations, and repairs of campus voice and data services
  • Respond to work orders and trouble tickets for moves, adds, changes, installations, and interrupted-service repairs
  • Support communications wiring installation, labeling, and testing according to internal IT and industry standards
  • Interact with coordinators and customers to clarify work details, troubleshoot issues, and determine needs
  • Use automated tracking and management tools, including MySoft, to update statuses, document work, and complete assignments
  • Assist with equipment demonstrations and customer walk-throughs
  • Prepare for and assist with moves of communications services and new voice and data connections
  • Assist with wiring installations from communications closets to workspaces
  • Inspect communications closets for security, safety, and cleanliness
  • Evaluate communications closet configurations and recommend data switch port upgrades
  • Maintain FS vehicles, campus emergency and elevator phones, and personal FS toolkit bags
  • Apply accurate prices to work orders and close out trouble tickets
  • Use Microsoft Excel to build data-port assignment spreadsheets and applications to print phone labels
  • Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A high school diploma and one year of relevant IT experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and twist
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record
  • Ability to work an overnight schedule: 4 days, 10 hours per shift, 8:00pm–7:00am
