About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform defined research and laboratory tests and experiments under general supervision
- Prepare primary neuronal cultures weekly from embryonic rat and mouse brains
- Set up experiments according to principal investigator instructions
- Participate in laboratory maintenance, including sterilization, equipment cleaning, supply ordering, inventory, and media preparation
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, records, files, logs, and computer databases
- Compile study data and results for publications, grants, and seminar presentations
- Maintain various mammalian cell lines
- Perform biochemical analyses, including western blot
- Perform immunofluorescent labeling
- Perform related responsibilities as required by the principal investigator
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
- Ability to perform laboratory research and experiments according to prescribed protocols
- Ability to prepare primary neuronal cultures from embryonic rat and mouse brains
- Ability to maintain mammalian cell lines
- Experience or ability to perform biochemical analyses, such as western blot
- Experience or ability to perform immunofluorescent labeling
- Ability to work with, take precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents
