About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform specialized and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures under minimal supervision
  • Apply or adapt scientific techniques using independent judgment
  • Assist with protocol design
  • Investigate and propose alternative experimental procedures for consideration by a principal investigator
  • Assist in planning and scheduling research procedures
  • Analyze and interpret study results
  • Demonstrate and train others in laboratory techniques and equipment operation
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment
  • Review literature and compile findings on related research developments and techniques
  • Monitor laboratory processes for quality assurance
  • Record study results, compile and analyze data, and prepare charts and graphs
  • Monitor handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances
  • Assist with IRB regulation management and ensure compliance with ethical standards
  • Pre-screen potential research participants by telephone and coordinate evaluation and MRI scan scheduling
  • Obtain informed assent/consent from participants and guardians
  • Collect biospecimens for analyses
  • Administer psycho-diagnostic and cognitive assessments
  • Support MRI data collection and conduct basic data management and analysis
  • Contribute to grant and manuscript preparation
  • Organize laboratory activities and schedules

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Development, Neuroscience, or a related field
  • Experience working with infants or children
  • Prior involvement in research settings
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Position tasks generally required to be performed in person at an Emory University location
  • Employees may be required to work with, take precautions against, and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents
