About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct strategic planning, development, and implementation of a large and complex program or several smaller programs
- Plan, administer, and monitor program budgets
- Develop short- and long-term goals and objectives
- Oversee related special projects
- Represent the program in national and international settings as needed
- Manage solicitation of funding from foundation, corporate, individual, and governmental donors as needed
- Collaborate with and seek support from representatives of other organizations
- Establish and administer policies and procedures
- Supervise staff
- Oversee operational and administrative management of NIH- and foundation-funded research studies spanning Rwanda, Zambia, and Atlanta
- Coordinate multiple concurrent studies, including budgets, timelines, regulatory submissions, and cross-site communication with field teams in Kigali and Lusaka
- Work closely with the RZHRG Director, field site leadership, and Emory grants administration to ensure smooth execution across the research portfolio
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to program work and seven years of related experience, including two years at a management level, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Master's degree in public health, global health, epidemiology, or a related field (preferred)
- Experience managing NIH-funded research grants, including budget administration and progress reporting (preferred)
- Familiarity with human subjects research regulations and IRB/ethics board processes, including international research contexts (preferred)
- Experience working with or in sub-Saharan Africa (preferred)
- Strong organizational and communication skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (preferred)
- Experience with REDCap or other research data management platforms (preferred)
- Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs
- Residency in the state of Georgia required
