About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and lead annual and multi-year fundraising strategies for individual, foundation, corporate, and government support
- Set annual revenue goals with the President and board and track progress
- Build and manage annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorship, and grant revenue plans
- Advise the President and board on fundraising priorities, donor strategy, and campaign readiness
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and prospects across Georgia
- Develop personalized cultivation plans and manage donor visits, calls, and touchpoints
- Grow annual and mid-level giving through direct mail, email, and digital campaigns
- Support the President and board members with donor cultivation and solicitation
- Research funding opportunities and write and manage grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funder reports
- Maintain funder relationships and manage matching-fund and reporting compliance
- Cultivate corporate sponsors and partners for programs and events
- Lead fundraising and sponsorship efforts for National History Day and Smithsonian Museum on Main Street
- Plan and execute donor cultivation, recognition, and giving events and campaigns
- Partner with communications on donor communications, campaign messaging, and event promotion
- Maintain donor records and gift tracking in the donor database and ensure timely gift acknowledgment
- Manage the development budget and track expenses against revenue goals
- Prepare fundraising reports and dashboards for the President and board
- Ensure development practices comply with relevant regulations and nonprofit fundraising and gift acceptance best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree and three to five years of experience in fundraising or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must reside in the state of Georgia
- Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs
- Experience developing fundraising strategies and revenue goals
- Experience with individual, foundation, corporate, and government fundraising
- Experience with major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate sponsorship, and grant revenue
- Ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects
- Grant proposal, letter of inquiry, and funder report writing and management experience
- Ability to manage matching-fund and reporting requirements
- Experience maintaining donor records and gift tracking in a donor database
- Budget management, fundraising expense tracking, and reporting experience
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising regulations, best practices, and gift acceptance practices
